Nope first off all it uses a slotloading not a trayloading blu-ray. Just saying and just like the Xbox 360, the drive and the PS3's motherboard are married. This means if you connect another drive [if even possible usually this uses special wires] it will be recognized as a wrong drive.
Call Sony and let them fix it for their flat fee. It is cheaper! As in you get a working system back [even your own if you don't mind waiting] for that fee.Can I used a regular pc blu ray drive on a PS3?
No, the drive is proprietary.
