How much use can you get out of a blu ray player?

I bought a Magnavox blu ray player from Wal-Mart and i've only had it about a month and it's already dying on me.

Blu-ray is like any other electronic device ... you get what you pay for. Unfortunately Magnavox is a lower end brand and the lower price is correlated with lower reliability. If you can return under warranty and upgrade do so, but you may be stuck. Unfortunately Blu-ray is trendy. You may or may not benefit relative to DVD. I agree, get a Sony, they invented the Blue Ray technology, so their products are a bit better.
