My plasma only supports only 1080i, not 1080p. Is it worth getting a Blu-Ray player? Would there be a noticeable difference? Is it worth getting a Blu-Ray player if my TV only supports 1080i?
Blue Ray is the only format recorded for HD audio and video resolution. You TV supports 1080i however the Blue Ray player is where the rubber meets the road for audio %26amp; video quality. HD blue ray disks are recorded in 1080p format and the blue ray player decodes and transmits to your 1080i TV. I can assure you that your eye can not tell the diff between 1080i and 1080p resolutions. Have fun.
Yes. If your plasma is only 1080i, the blu-ray player will downscale the 1080p to 1080i. Even at 1080i it will be a HUGE improvement over DVD. IT will still look great and I would still suggest you get it.Is it worth getting a Blu-Ray player if my TV only supports 1080i?
Absolutely...there is no other HD DVD player out there, that will deliver 1080 HD to your 1080 TV set.....
Notice I didn't mention 1080P or 1080i....because when it comes down to it, 1080 is 1080, no matter what others will tell you.....
Sure 1080P gives you something that 1080i can't...Progressive scanned picture.
But you'll never see the difference between the two.....Is it worth getting a Blu-Ray player if my TV only supports 1080i?
I just got a ps3 and watched the movie CRANK (blueray) on it. It looked awesome. The sound was great going through my stereo as well even for a virtual surround unit. You will not be disappointed.
