I have a Sony receiver and a sony 5.1 surround sound. There is no HDMI in or out in it but there is a coaxil, but on the blu ray it is a door(kinda thing) and the cable won't go into it please tell me what kind of cable i will need or give me some guidelines. How do you connect a Blu-Ray Player to a speaker system?
See this page to get what you want to know:

The door is a cover for an optical digital port. If you have one of those on the surround sound, get an optical cable like one of these http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdep鈥?/a> and connect them. There is an excellent chance the Blue ray has digital audio RCA out (very often the orange port and right next to the Toslink one). If that is the case, get one cheap video cable (one of those spare yellow RCA jack video cable works perfect for this) and connect away. If your surround sound doesn't have optical but does have RCA digital, and the blueray has no RCA digital audio then get something like this http://www.monoprice.com/products/search鈥?/a> One can convert from toslink to RCA digital audio. How do you connect a Blu-Ray Player to a speaker system?
Ha the door thing, I know exactly what you mean. I don't understand the door myself, but I can tell you that it is a TOSLINK aka. optical cable input/output.
You can get them at Radio Shack and Wal-mart may even carry them; they are fairly common but surprisingly few people really know what it is.How do you connect a Blu-Ray Player to a speaker system?
Connect optical cable from Blu-ray player to receiver for surround sound.
