How much difference does it make to have blu ray on a computer?

I'm trying to decide whether to get an Asus or HP desktop computer. One of the differences in the two is that the Asus doesn't have blu ray and the HP does. Does this make a big difference?How much difference does it make to have blu ray on a computer?

It depends on the movie you're watching. Some sci-fi movies do look and sound better on blu-ray, but if you are going to get a blu-ray drive, get a blu ray writer.
