On Xbox 360 the Xbox LIVE marketplaces are brilliant, they suit everyone and there's no reason that I'd actually complain about it. To play online the user needs to pay but that's because servers cost a lot of money. How many years do you think Blu-ray is going to last until digital media stream takes over?
Im 25 and ive seen cassettes change to cd's to mini-discs to digital stuff.
When they stand to make a lot of money from it, thats when it'll change.
Probably 10-15 years im guessing maybe sooner.
I think physical media such as blu-ray disks will be around some time yet. The problem with streaming and downloading is that:
a) unsecure. There are still severe security issues in terms of prevfenting people making and distributing copies, so studios and producers will be wary of adopting it totally until they are certain its secure.
b) digital media still relies on the speed of a persons home internet speed. Until it can be gaurenteed that EVERY home could get the kind of speed (and indeed does) that would be required for streaming (without buffering) or extremely fast downloads, it won't be seen as a feasible replacement for disks. How many years do you think Blu-ray is going to last until digital media stream takes over?
I think blu-ray will last longer than you live, or at least something similar will take it's place, why? because people still read the newspaper when there's so much more on the internet some people just want something they can hold and my internet goes slow for a while/goes over the max quota more often then cars break down when going to the video store. How many years do you think Blu-ray is going to last until digital media stream takes over?
I think it will probably be 3 or 4 years
Not too long.. a few years probably
