I just found out that the ps3 will be getting a firmware update to allow 3D playback, why not all blu-ray players?Can blu-ray players get a firmware update for 3d playback?
A player has to be able to support the new dual frame video output, and also have an HDMI 1.4 hardware port in order to be able to be firmware upgradeable to support 3D output. Because of the processing capabilities of the PS3, it will be able to work around the HDMI 1.4 port issue (earlier PS3 models had 1.3 ports), possibly at a reduced resolution though Sony claims the output will be 1080p not 1080i.
