What is the difference between Blu-ray anime and Standard anime if they are both animated?

I've been curious for a while. If anime is animated, then how can it be any more clearer to watch, as in be blu-ray?What is the difference between Blu-ray anime and Standard anime if they are both animated?
I debated this myself, but the anime I have on blu-ray does indeed look better. I think it's because the lines are more crisp and possibly I higher vibrancy of colors. Movies also tend to have very detailed backgrounds, which are hard to resolve on DVD. I have also heard that the sound quality is better on blu-rays, but without a nice surround sound system I can't confirm that myself.

Blu-ray also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD), is the name of a next-generation optical disc format, which was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large amounts of data. The format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc.



So basically that means that you can store more information on a blu-ray disc, which makes it possible to store large HD (high definition) videos on it.What is the difference between Blu-ray anime and Standard anime if they are both animated?
It's not like anime is drawn in 640x480. If the camera used to snap each frame is in HD, then it'll look crisper and cleaner, more like you were looking at the real frames of art.



For older anime, this isn't really the case, though. For that, it's all that digital remastering, which is basically the video version of photoshopping.
