Is it worth getting a blu ray player on a 1080i 32 inch television?

I have a 32 inch LG26LX2R, which I am very happy with. However, I am looking at buying a blu ray dvd player and have heard alot about it not being worth the price if your tv is 1080i? Can anyone help me out with this?Is it worth getting a blu ray player on a 1080i 32 inch television?
There's nothing wrong with buying a Blu-ray player for a smaller screen say a 32" or 26" display. Most likely you would not notice much difference between the average DVD and average Blu-ray disc on a screen under 50".

Still, if you plan to have a larger screen (50"+) in the near future and want to start collecting Blu-rays, it makes sense. A Blu-ray player also does a great job of playing DVDs back on your high definition TV.

It would be less expensive to buy a good upconverting DVD player and continue buying, renting, and owning regular DVDs.Is it worth getting a blu ray player on a 1080i 32 inch television?
I can't honestly say that it will be worth it for you. There will be a difference, but it won't be significant.

A 26" screen is pretty small and 1080i means you won't get the benefit of progressive video.

The difference between 576p (UK) DVD resolution and 1080i high definition on a 26" screen is not going to make a huge difference, the screen size is probably too small for your eyes to effectively resolve the high definition detail from a standard viewing distance. If however you are watching close to the screen like a computer monitor, then you may be able to see the extra detail.

So my honest answer is no, it probably isn't worth it until you upgrade to a larger 1080p TV, but that depends somewhat on your viewing distance from the TV.Is it worth getting a blu ray player on a 1080i 32 inch television?
