What is the difference between streaming players, and a blu ray player?

I'm new to all of this. We recently bought an LCD tv, and have a netflix account and would like to stream movies from our computer onto our TV. Can a blu ray player also do this? I'm not sure which one we should buy: any of the streaming players, or just a blu ray player. What is the difference? Also, our LCD TV is HD, so will we need a blu ray player to get that HD effect? Thanks! What is the difference between streaming players, and a blu ray player?
Buy a simple Blu-Ray with 1080p upconvert facility. So that u can see ur old DVDs also to near HD quality. It will cost u under $99. And get a 15feet HDMI cable from Dollar Store for around $10. See ur netflix movies or anything on net on TV via HDMI cable connection (Computer to TV)
You can enjoy films with excellent picture and sound quality. If you are interested in it ,please look at this website: www.besthdsoft.com ,you will find more surprise!!! I am sure you will like it!!!

HD and Blu ray are not the same thing. You do not need Blu ray for the 'HD effect', however Blu ray offers a much better picture. Now, what you want is a DVD player that can stream netflix? To do this, you need a netflix ready device, and there are both DVD and blu ray players.

The difference between DVD and blu ray are this: DVD players only play DVDs. Blu ray players play both. Blu ray discs are of higher quality (though this is only true if the movie was FILMED in HD, which most 2005+ movies are). Other than that, then no, there's no real difference. However, if you have an HDTV, it's a great idea to go for the blu ray player. It's simply better. What is the difference between streaming players, and a blu ray player?
Some blu ray players can stream from Netflix. If they can, it will be on the box as one of the features. Many of the new blu ray players have this feature. Keep in mind that to stream you will need an internet connection to your blu ray player. Some are wired, others wireless. Yes, all blu ray players put out an HD signal. Just keep in mind that what you put in needs to be HD for you to get the HD picture. I've currently got my eye on the Sony BDPS 770 which does what you want and is wireless.

From my personal experience I would avoid at all costs Samsung products.
netflix.com tells you all the devices you can use to stream their instant queue movies and no you don't have to have a blu ray to get the HD effect on your tv, you will need HD service though

I just purchased a Magnavox Blu-ray Wi-FI DVD player. This uses VUDU service. Same as Netflix but You order online or if your on land line phone you can rent with remote. It cost like $69.00 for the player.Great deal.
