I do have a budget. can i find a good blu ray player for $300 and below??? What is a good brand? and does it have to come with the entertainment system for it to sound good? i think i can only afford to buy the player itself. Thank you! What is the best blu ray player out in the market today? and how much?
hello,
The best player is the Samsung bd-p3600 or 4600 simply because they stream netflix wirelessly from your router. You can find the 3600 in your price range. Load up your netflix cue, a big nasty bowl...of popcorn of course!, and don't sleep for days.
cheers, ps

If you don't have an HDTV forget Blu-ray.
If you have a good surround audio system (with HDMI input) and larger than 32" HDTV Blu-ray (bigger is better) is a good idea ... as long as you are prepared to pay a premium for disks.
OK ... so you still want one.
The "best" (in the "normal human" price range) is arguably the Oppo BDP-83 (see link), but it's $500. That said, there are a number of stand alone players under $300. However, I'd recommend avoiding the bargain basement models (under $200).
Blu-ray players can be added to any audio system that a DVD player can be used with ... but work best with an HDMI connection.
Other than Oppo, Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, LG and Pioneer make the brand name models. I suggest reading reviews (See 2nd link for a start). Every player has pros and cons, so since no-one but you knows your needs you decide.
Note if you have a big DVD collection (and MANY movies are not available on Blu-ray) look for one that upscales DVD well. Not all do. For example, the Sony PS3 is a mediocre DVD player. What is the best blu ray player out in the market today? and how much?
For your budget I would suggest Sony BDP-S360 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player
