How do you properly connect a Blu Ray player to the sound system and HDTV?
We have one outlet for the HDMI cable. Where do we connect this to so the sound comes from the sound system and the picture is HD?
Currently, we have the HDMI cable to the receiver. We have the red/yellow/white cables attached to the TV. The sound works fine, but the picture from the Blu Ray just doesn't seem right...? Or am I being weird?
How should we connect it so we get the optimum settings for both? How to connect Blu Ray to Sound System and HDTV?
You need too hook up your another hdmi from your sound reciever in the hdmi out on the back of the reciever and then connect it to the tv you you will have hd that's your problem the yellow white and red cables arnt hd those are analog
Your Blu-ray player should has a digital Optical on it. Use the HDMI and connect it to the TV and run the Digital optical cable from your blu-ray player to your surround sound. Digital optical will be your best option for the best sound.
The digital optical will have a RED light shinning through when your blu-ray is on. If you see a RED light then you have it. Ebay it for a good deal. How to connect Blu Ray to Sound System and HDTV?
"We have the red/yellow/white cables attached to the TV. "
That is bad.
The yellow cable is composite video - the worst type of connection for standard def, and it wont support HD.
What kind of sound-system do you have?
I suspect you have a $199 box system with a skinny receiver with a disk-drive built in. If so - you are out of luck. These systems are ... DVD players with attached speakers. They do not have the electronics to let you hook up other things and decode 5.1.
Your best bet is to run HDMI straight from the BluRay player to the TV. If your sound system has 'optical' input - run a Toslink optical cable from the TV optical output to the optical input on the 'system'. That should give you both HD video and 5.1 sound. How to connect Blu Ray to Sound System and HDTV?
