I am thinking about an inspiron 17r and i can get a blu-ray driver as im ordering it, but can i add that on later, or do i have to get it straight from the start. Can you add the optional blu-ray driver to your dell inspiron 17r after you buy it?
If you really want it much better to order it direct, to much of a pain afterwards. I did that and regret it.
Yes any hardware option can be added at a later date. I would also recommend looking at an external Blu Ray drive like the Samsung SE 506 http://www.burnworld.com/blog/samsung-se鈥?/a> This is a ultra portable drive that you can take with you or just let it sit on your desk without taking up too much room. But you can always add the Dell option later when you are ready for it.Can you add the optional blu-ray driver to your dell inspiron 17r after you buy it?
To add a Blue-Ray drive to a dell notebook required four things.
The Blue-Ray drive itself
The driver for the drive
Blu-Ray decoding software
And finally the miniPCI processing card that goes inside the laptop that
without which none of it works.

Obviously you'd have to get it when you order it. Are you thinking of saying to the delivery-men "Oh, and can I have a blu-ray drive too?". Dell will only sell you what you ask for at the time of ordering.
You could buy it separately though afterward, maybe get an external one.
Hello, you need blu-ray drive and the compatible blu-ray driver.
